Art classes are a great way to manage and redirect stress, create and maintain an active, healthy mind, and keep the imagination and creative spirit youthful and animated. Our weekly adult art classes are led by experienced, enthusiastic, and talented artists who provide instruction in a range of visual arts skill sets. Our weekday evening sessions span 4 and 6 weeks and are only an hour long, allowing you to take a little time for yourself. Participants completing the sessions leave with complete artworks. Our art classes are the perfect way to experiment with drawing and painting techniques, expanding your creative toolkit.

Mondays starting April 9th - May 14th,

THIS INTERMEDIATE LEVEL CLASS ALLOWS ARTISTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO HONE THEIR SKILLS, OR DEVELOP MORE DETAIL-ORIENTED OBSERVATION DRAWING ABILITIES. ATTENDEES OBSERVE AND DRAW A MODEL PORTRAIT OVER TWO CLASSES. EACH CLASS ENDS WITH A BRIEF CRITIQUE TO ALLOW FOR CORRECTIONS AND ULTIMATELY LEAVE WITH FINISHED PORTRAITS. THIS COURSE RUNS 6 WEEKS AND WILL PRODUCE THREE FINISHED DRAWINGS. ATTENDEES WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO WORK IN PENCIL, BUT CHARCOAL, CONTE PENCIL, AND INK WASH WILL ALSO BE ACCEPTABLE MEDIUMS AFTER COMPLETION OF THEIR FIRST PENCIL PORTRAIT.
Tuesdays starting April 10th - May 1st, 7:30 - 8:30 PM
OUR INSTRUCTOR WILL INTRODUCE PARTICIPANTS TO DRAWING THE BASIC STRUCTURES OF THE HUMAN HEAD AND EXECUTION OF FACIAL FEATURES IN VARIOUS FORMS AND ANGLES. THE CLASS COVERS THE MUSCLE GROUPS IN THE FACE ALONG WITH VARIOUS FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, RENDERING DIFFERENT HAIRSTYLES OF AND FINALLY ACCOMPLISHING A WELL-CONSTRUCTED AND FULLY DETAILED FACE.
Thursdays starting April 12th - May 17th, 8:00 - 9:00 PM
BEGINNERS LIFE DRAWING IS AN EXPLORATIVE CLASS WHERE ATTENDEES WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DRAW SUBJECTS FROM LIFE. USING FOUNDATION LEVEL SKILLS SUCH AS LINE, LIGHT AND SHADOW, AND GESTURE. ATTENDEES WILL EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT METHODS OF SKETCHING SUBJECTS, CONTOUR DRAWING, QUICK GESTURE DRAWING, BUILDING FROM BASIC SHAPES, AND DRAWING THROUGH OMISSION.
Wednesdays starting April 11th - May 16th, 8:00 - 9:00 PM
ATTENDEES WILL LEARN THE BASIC TECHNIQUES FOR PAINTING WITH WATERCOLOR INCLUDING WET AND DRY BRUSH APPLICATION, BLENDING, AND MANIPULATING PAINT ON THE PAPER. YOUR INSTRUCTOR WILL GIVE A BEGINNING DEMONSTRATION ON EACH TECHNIQUE IN CLASS (15-20 MINUTES) AND ALLOW ATTENDEES TO PRACTICE THESE TECHNIQUES BEFORE MOVING TO SUBJECTS FOR PAINTING SUCH AS SIMPLE STILL LIFE SETUPS, FLOWERS, ETC. ATTENDEES WILL PARTICIPATE IN A CRITIQUE SESSION AT THE END OF EACH CLASS TO FACILITATE DISCUSSION AND ASK QUESTIONS. ATTENDEES WILL LEAVE CLASS WITH A SMALL PORTFOLIO OF WATERCOLOR PAINTINGS
